It really depends on which side of Armenia you want to see. Spring is green and comfortable for road trips, summer is perfect for escaping Yerevan and heading to Lake Sevan or the mountains, while September and October are often ideal for a longer trip around the country. Winter has a completely different atmosphere, with snow, mountain scenery and places like Tsaghkadzor and Myler.

How many days do I need in Armenia?

For a first trip, we would suggest at least 5–7 days. That is enough to enjoy Yerevan without rushing and add several trips outside the city. If you want to actually travel around Armenia rather than simply tick places off a list, 8–12 days is much more comfortable.

What should I definitely see on my first trip to Armenia?

A good first itinerary usually combines Yerevan, nature and a few historical sites. Garni and Geghard work well together in one day, Lake Sevan can be combined with Dilijan, while the southern route is great for Noravank and Tatev. What currency is used in Armenia, and do I need cash?

Armenia uses the Armenian dram, or AMD. In Yerevan, cards are accepted almost everywhere, so there is usually no reason to carry a large amount of cash. Outside the capital, though, a little cash can be very useful in smaller towns, local markets or more remote places.

Can I use Russian Mir cards in Armenia?

Yes. Mir cards can be used in Armenia, although they are not accepted everywhere. On the QRent website, you can use a Mir card to pay online for car rental and our other services. Some shops, restaurants and other businesses also accept Mir through compatible payment terminals.

You can also withdraw Armenian drams from a Mir card at VTB (Armenia) ATMs. So traveling in Armenia with a Mir card is possible, although it is still convenient to keep some cash for everyday expenses.

What language can I use in Armenia?

Armenian is the official language, but visitors usually manage quite easily. Russian is widely spoken, especially among older generations, while English is increasingly common in hotels, restaurants, travel companies and among younger people. In Yerevan, the language barrier is generally quite small.

Mobile internet works well in Yerevan and along most popular travel routes. You can easily buy a local SIM card after arrival or in the city, and eSIM options are also available. If you are heading into the mountains or more remote areas, downloading offline maps beforehand is a useful backup.

For everyday travel, your usual navigation app should work fine. Before a longer trip, though, it is worth looking at the full route rather than blindly following the first option suggested. What documents do I need to rent a car in Armenia?

In most cases, you only need your passport and a valid driving licence. An International Driving Permit may also be needed depending on where your licence was issued and its format. If you are unsure, send us a photo of your licence before booking and we will check it for you.

What are the minimum age and driving experience requirements?

The minimum driver age is 23 years, and the minimum driving experience is 3 years. If you have less than 5 years of driving experience, a security deposit may be required for some vehicles. All conditions for the selected car are confirmed in advance when you book.

Do I need to leave a security deposit?

Accepted Answer

Most Qrent cars are available without a security deposit, so you normally do not need to have a large amount blocked on your bank card during the trip. There may be exceptions for certain cars or less experienced drivers. If a deposit is required, we will tell you before pickup.

Is there a mileage limit?

No. Mileage is unlimited with QRent. You can drive from Yerevan to Lake Sevan, Dilijan, Gyumri, Jermuk, Tatev or plan a longer road trip around Armenia without worrying about extra charges for additional kilometres.

How can I pay for my rental?

Accepted Answer

Payment options depend on the reservation and include bank cards, cash and online payment. Before confirming your booking, you will know how and when payment needs to be made. If a particular service requires advance payment, we will let you know beforehand.

Can I pay when I pick up the car?

Accepted Answer

For many reservations, yes. If payment on pickup is available for your selected vehicle, this will be shown when you book. Some services or special arrangements may require advance payment, particularly when additional documents need to be prepared beforehand.

Can I pay for my rental with a Mir card?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You can use a Russian Mir card on the Qrent website to pay for your car rental and our other services. In Armenia, Mir cards are also accepted by some shops, restaurants and other businesses, and Armenian drams can be withdrawn from VTB (Armenia) ATMs.

No. We want the final price to be clear before the rental begins. The cost of the car and any services you choose is known in advance. Extra charges only arise from additional services or situations covered by the rental terms, such as missing fuel, traffic fines, vehicle damage, late return or excessive cleaning.

Why does the price of the same car change on different dates?

Car rental pricing works much like hotels and airline tickets: it depends on the season, demand and rental length. Fewer cars may be available during summer and holiday periods, while longer rentals usually have a lower daily rate. This is why the same car can have a different daily price for a 3-day and a 14-day rental.

What insurance is included in the rental price?

The rental price already includes standard vehicle insurance, third-party liability cover and medical insurance. If you would like to reduce your financial responsibility for possible vehicle damage, you can add CASCO coverage when booking. Each insurance option has its own terms and exclusions, so it is important to check what your selected package actually covers.

What is an insurance deductible or excess?

A deductible, also called an excess, is the amount for which the renter may remain responsible in a covered incident, provided that the insurance terms have been followed. A €250 deductible does not mean that every small scratch automatically costs €250. If the actual damage is lower, the real amount of damage is what matters.

What should I do if I have an accident?

Accepted Answer

Stop and do not move the car until you receive instructions. Contact Qrent, the police and the insurance company immediately, and take photos and videos of the scene. Even if the damage looks minor, do not arrange a private settlement with the other party or organise repairs without speaking to us first. Proper accident documentation is essential for maintaining insurance coverage.

Can I pick up my rental car at Yerevan Airport?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We can deliver the car directly to Zvartnots International Airport and meet you after arrival. Provide your flight number when booking so we can track the actual arrival time and take possible delays into account.

Can I pick up or return a car at night?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Night-time pickup and return can be arranged in advance, including at the airport. If you are arriving late at night or early in the morning, provide your arrival time and flight number when booking. An additional fee applies to night-time pickup or return, and the exact amount will be shown or confirmed in advance when you book.

What happens if my flight is delayed?

Accepted Answer

If we have your flight number, we track the actual arrival time. A normal flight delay therefore does not mean that your reservation will be cancelled. If the airline makes a major change to your arrival time or date, please let us know as well.

What happens if I am late for my pickup?

Accepted Answer

If you are running late, just let us know. We normally hold the car for one hour after the agreed pickup time. If more time passes and we cannot reach you, the reservation may be treated as a no-show. Airport pickups work differently: when a flight number is provided, we follow the actual arrival time.

Can you deliver the car to my hotel or address?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You do not have to collect the car from the Qrent office. We can deliver it to the airport, your hotel or another agreed address. If there is a delivery charge for a particular place or time, you will know about it before confirming the booking.

Can I return the car somewhere different from the pickup location?

Accepted Answer

In many cases, yes. For example, you can collect the car from our office and return it at the airport, or vice versa. Returning the vehicle in another city may also be possible with prior arrangement. Availability and any additional cost depend on the drop-off location.

Question 37

Can I drive a Qrent car from Armenia to Georgia?

Accepted Answer

Yes, this is possible with many of our vehicles. We prepare a notarised vehicle authorisation and the required documents for crossing the border in advance. Please allow at least one business day for preparation. Taking a rental car from Armenia to Georgia is available for an additional fee.

Can I pick up a car in Armenia and return it in Georgia?

Accepted Answer

Yes. One-way rental from Armenia to Georgia is available for selected vehicles. For example, you can pick up the car in Yerevan and return it in Tbilisi, Batumi or at one of their airports.

This must be arranged in advance because we need to prepare the required border documents and organise collection of the vehicle in Georgia. The additional cost depends on the selected car and drop-off location.

Can I drive the rental car off-road?

Accepted Answer

No. Qrent vehicles are intended for normal roads. This also applies to crossovers: all-wheel drive and higher ground clearance do not turn a regular crossover into an off-road vehicle. Damage to the underbody, suspension, wheels or body caused by off-road driving may not be covered by insurance.

Do I need a 4x4 for traveling around Armenia?

Accepted Answer

For a typical sightseeing trip, usually not. Most popular places in Armenia can be reached with a regular car or crossover. A 4x4 becomes more useful in winter, during snowfall and on certain mountain roads. Tell us your planned route and we can advise whether four-wheel drive makes sense for your trip.

Are the cars prepared for winter driving?

Accepted Answer

Yes. During winter, our cars are equipped with tyres suitable for the season. Weather conditions in Yerevan and mountain areas can be very different on the same day, so it is always useful to check the forecast and road conditions before a longer winter trip.

Can I add another driver?

Accepted Answer

Yes. If more than one person will drive the car, all drivers must be included in the rental agreement. The same document, age and driving-experience requirements apply to additional drivers. A person who is not listed in the agreement is not permitted to drive the vehicle.

Can I request a child seat?

Accepted Answer

Yes. It is best to request a child seat together with your car and tell us the child's age or weight so we can choose a suitable option. The number of child seats is limited, so we recommend reserving one in advance.

How is a rental day calculated?

Accepted Answer

A rental day is a 24-hour period starting from the time you receive the car. For example, if you collect it at 2:00 PM today, the first rental day ends at 2:00 PM tomorrow. This is why pickup and return times are taken into account when calculating the final price.

Question 45

Can I extend my rental during the trip?

Accepted Answer

Usually yes, provided that the vehicle has not already been booked by another customer. Contact us before your current rental ends and we will check availability. If the car is already reserved, we will try to find another solution. Keeping the vehicle beyond the agreed return time without confirmation is not allowed.

Can I return the car earlier than planned?

Accepted Answer

Yes, you can return the car early. However, unused rental days are not refundable because the vehicle was reserved for you for the entire agreed rental period.

Can I change my booking after it has been confirmed?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You can request changes to the dates, vehicle, pickup point or return location. If the requested option is available, we can update the reservation. The price may also change depending on the new dates, rental length or vehicle. The earlier you tell us about your new plans, the more options we are likely to have.

Do I have to return the car with a full tank?

Accepted Answer

Not necessarily. The car should be returned with approximately the same fuel level recorded at pickup. If there is less fuel, the missing amount is charged according to the applicable rate. If there is more, the difference is not refunded.

Do I need to wash the car before returning it?

Accepted Answer

If the car only has normal road dust or light dirt, you do not need to make a special trip to a car wash. If the vehicle is too dirty for us to properly inspect the body or interior, it may need to be washed before the final inspection and a cleaning charge may apply.

Is smoking allowed in the car?

Accepted Answer

No. Smoking inside Qrent vehicles is prohibited. We want every customer to receive a car without tobacco smell, so if there is a strong smell or other evidence of smoking after return, additional cleaning and the applicable rental penalty will be charged.

Can I travel with a pet?

Accepted Answer

Yes, but only with prior approval. Pets should travel in a suitable carrier. The vehicle must be returned without damage, excessive pet hair or contamination requiring special cleaning.

Who pays traffic fines during the rental?

Accepted Answer

The renter is responsible for traffic violations committed during the rental period. Many traffic violations in Armenia are recorded by cameras, so a fine may be issued after the violation occurs. Information about unpaid fines may be shown by customs officers when crossing the border, or a fine notice may be sent by the traffic police to the renter's address.

Can I cancel my reservation?

Yes. You can cancel your reservation yourself on your booking's Check-in page or in your personal account. Each reservation has a free cancellation deadline shown when you book. If you cancel before this time, there is no cancellation fee. After the deadline, or in the case of a no-show, the terms of the specific reservation apply.

What is online Check-in and why should I complete it?

Online Check-in lets you provide most of the information needed for your rental in advance and significantly reduces the time required to pick up your car. Before arrival, you can enter your passport and driving licence details and upload photos of your documents. At pickup, we only need to verify the information, complete the required paperwork and hand over the car.

What should I do if the car breaks down?

Call or message us and explain what happened. If possible, send a photo or video together with your location so we can understand the situation and arrange assistance more quickly. Please do not repair the vehicle yourself or take it to a workshop without speaking to us first.

What should I do if I lose the keys or vehicle documents?

Accepted Answer

Contact us straight away. Depending on the situation, we can arrange a spare key, replacement documents or another solution. Please do not try to open the car yourself or order a replacement key independently. Costs related to lost keys or documents are the renter's responsibility.

Will I receive the exact car I booked?

Accepted Answer

We always do our best to provide the exact car you selected on the website. Occasionally, however, a previous customer may return it damaged or an unexpected technical issue may appear. In that situation, we will offer the closest available alternative or a higher-class vehicle when possible.

Should I inspect the car at pickup?

Accepted Answer

Yes, and we actually recommend it. Together with a QRent representative, you can check the body, interior, wheels and fuel level and make sure any existing damage is recorded. You are also welcome to take a short video on your phone. A few minutes at pickup can prevent unnecessary questions later.
